The top model 6195M with 195 hp* gets the power out of a 6-cylinder PowerTech™ PSS 6.8-L engine for high productivity through all kinds of demanding tasks. The engine is Final Tier 4 (FT4) compliant by including selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology. The 6195M has a wheelbase of 2800 mm (110.2 in.) for high stability and very good road ability. It offers the exclusive full-frame design with a wide variety of reliable transmissions.
All 6M Cab Tractors can be equipped with the electrohydraulically actuated CommandQuad™ Plus transmission. Mechanical cab suspension and TLS™ (Triple-Link Suspension) front-axle suspension are available for maximum operator comfort.
For more hydraulic power the fuel-efficient 114-L pressure-and-flow-compensated (PFC) pump provides outstanding performance for front loader work, front hitch, TLS, front-axle suspension, or high-demand implements. Integrated FarmSight™ solutions like AutoTrac™ assisted steering and ISOBUS are available on all 6M models.

Customers are utilizing satellite technology for advanced applications such as field documentation and tractor/implement guidance. An expanded product line from John Deere Ag Management Solutions (AMS) offers a wide range of complete systems and accuracy levels that can be combined to create a powerful management tool for tillage, seeding, crop care, and harvest operations.
The 6M Series Tractors can utilize AMS hardware and software applications for uses such as crop production documentation, automated functions, telematics solutions and equipment management, enabling producers to remain competitive, reduce input costs and increase efficiency.
Optional factory installation of the GreenStar™ Ready wiring harness and AutoTrac™ Ready tractor components are available to make getting into AMS products easy.
Properly ballasting a 6M Series Tractor is one of the most important elements to optimizing its performance.
To utilize the tractor’s full capabilities, many factors need to be taken into account:
- Tire size selection
- Total weight
- Front/rear weight distribution
- How the implement is connected to the tractor
Correct weight and tires are also critical to pulling performance and fuel efficiency. Soil compaction due to unnecessary or excessive weight can be minimized if general ballasting guidelines are followed.
The John Deere full-frame concept supports the load and enables a higher power to weight ratio, while the powertrain transmits the power of the engine to the final drive.
The field-proven full frame enables higher payloads to be carried with optimized weight distribution. The long, durable, steel double frame acts as a strong backbone, and the engine and transmission can be designed for optimal performance. The drivetrain transmits the power to the ground and is designed for heavy use.
The controller area network (CAN) bus system on the 6M Series efficiently links communications between key components such as the transmission and engine. The CAN bus system increases reliability while lowering service bills. It serves as a diagnostic tool interfacing with Service ADVISOR™.
Various lighting packages provide the choice and flexibility operators need when the work starts before sunrise or extends into the night. Additional optional lights are also available to improve night visibility and loader work. The electrical and lighting systems are designed to fit customer needs and allow them to keep working hour after hour.
John Deere 6M Series Tractors feature the reliable and proven PowerTech™ PSS or PowerTech PVS engine, depending on the model. The PSS system includes two turbo chargers in series, while the PVS system has a single charged system.

These Tier 4/Stage IV emission-compliant air-to-air aspiration engines deliver constant power over a wide range of rotations per minute (rpm) with a power bulge above rated power and excellent torque characteristics.
The John Deere PowerTech engines are designed to deliver:

The engine control unit monitors:
- High pressure common rail fuel injection system to sense engine load
- Integrated emission control system, optimizing the performance of the engine while maintaining emission compliance.
To match the engine power characteristics and improve economy of operation, the rated engine speed is 2100 rpm.
Designed according to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standards, the hitches feature ample strength for various implement draft and lift capacities. All draft forces exerted during transport operations are absorbed through the full steel tractor frame.
The PTO shaft can be installed to allow for both 540 rpm and 1000 rpm speeds. Dual-speed PTO shaft expands PTO operations to implements that require 540 or 1000 rpm so engine runs in a constant power range.
A power-assisted three-speed shiftable PTO is also available to further expand PTO efficiencies to boost tractor performance.
Two hydraulic systems are available to provide the required amount of hydraulic power. The 6110M-6145M Cab Series Tractors feature an 80-L/min (21.1-gpm) open center, pressure-compensated (PC) hydraulic system as base equipment. For 6155M-6195M Tractors, a closed center, pressure-and-flow-compensated (PFC) pump with 114 L/min (30.1 gpm) of flow is base equipment to fulfil higher demands. The PFC system is load sensed, which means a valve on the pump immediately initiates flow when required. When flow is no longer required, the pump returns to low pressure and to a no-flow standby mode.
The PFC system is also available for 6110M-6145M as an option.
For open operator station (OOS) models 6110M to 6145M, a 80 L/min (21.1 gpm) PC pump is base equipment. A 114-L/min (30.1-gpm) PFC pump is also optional.
The hydraulic capacity of these tractors, together with the transmission options, makes these tractors the perfect match for loader applications.
The cab provides a comfortable working environment for those long days in all conditions with a car-like noise level and mechanical cab suspension. All-around visibility of 310 degrees from within the cab ensures accurate tractor placement, implement hookup, and optimum tractor performance.
The 6M Series Cab Tractor design provides the operator with a solid foundation for a productive and comfortable working environment. Wide and easy to access, the flat platform is uncluttered permitting full utilization of either door.
Access to the tractor is made easy and allows for a quick entry by:
- Large access doors on each side
- Long contour handrails
- A set of large, non-slip set of steps on either side of the tractor
- Footsteps are designed to shed mud and trash from operator’s shoes

Standard on all models, hydrostatic steering provides optimum performance and efficiency with minimal effort. Hydrostatic steering requires minimal steering effort, reduces operator fatigue and is easy to maneuver.
The 6M Series Tractors have hydraulically actuated wet-brakes for quick response and long life. Operators can drive in the field or on the road with confidence, knowing steering and braking will be easy and responsive. Hydraulic trailer brakes are also available.
